CNX Gas Supports Friends of the Big South Fork The Friends of the Big South Fork announced that Pittsburgh-based CNX Gas Corporation (NYSE: CXG), a CONSOL Energy Inc. subsidiary, recently contributed $12,500 in matching funds to help complete several important regional projects. These include the annual Haunting in the Hills Story Telling Festival, distribution of regional rack cards and maps, a Hospitality Awareness Training program and some much needed office furniture. “We are thrilled to be working with CNX Gas and very thankful for their help,” said James Taylor, Friends executive director. “The fact that they made a similar contribution to the Scott County Women’s Shelter makes this support even more impressive.” According to Kent Wright, General Manager of CNX Gas’ Oak Ridge office, “It is very important that the areas in which we do business realize a benefit from our presence. It’s only fair that when the company benefits, our operational areas benefit as well.” Wright says this philosophy builds on the notion of Sustainable Development —a concept which forms an important part of the Friends’ mission statement and is illustrated in their commitment to the protection, preservation and responsible development of the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, and the surrounding Region. Friends President Don Stansberry III, joined Taylor in welcoming CNX Gas to the region. “We very much appreciate their participation in our local economy and their support of important local projects,” said Stansberry, “especially during these tough economic times.” “We look forward to working with CNX Gas during 2009 on further projects including the 6th Annual Wings Over the Big South Fork Air Show and others.” Friends of the Big South Fork is a nonprofit corporation devoted to conservation and sustainable development, including eco-friendly tourism and retirement throughout the upper Cumberland Plateau. CNX Gas Corporation is a natural gas exploration and production company. CNX Gas is a leading producer of natural gas in the Appalachian Basin and the nation’s largest producer of coalbed methane natural gas. CNX Gas is majority-owned by CONSOL Energy Inc. (NYSE: CNX), the largest producer of high-Btu bituminous coal in the United States. CONSOL Energy is a member of the S&P 500 Equity Index and last year reported total revenue of more than $4.6 billion. Both companies are headquartered in the Pittsburgh area.
